Matthew West




General Profile

Matthew joined Enterprise chambers in 2003 and is based at the Newcastle branch. He has interests in all areas of commercial chancery, and in particular company law (including corporate insolvency) and the law of real property (including landlord and tenant). He also practises in general civil and commercial matters, and has an interest in European Union law and employment law.

Matthew is available to accept instructions in all principal areas of chambers’ practice, and is able to work in German, French and Spanish.

 

Areas of Emphasis

  • Insolvency - All aspects, corporate and individual including all stages of the winding up and bankruptcy process, disputed debts, validation orders and insolvency appeals
  • Company - Including directors duties and directors’ disqualification work
  • Commercial - Sale of goods, finance and consumer credit.  Litigation for and against banks involving securities, mortgages and guarantees.
  • Property - All aspects including covenants, easements and boundary disputes.  Regularly involved in litigation, in relation to legal and beneficial interests in land, in particular arising out of partnerships disputes and dilapidations
  • Professional Negligence
    Banking - Litigation for and against banks involving securities, bills of exchange, letters of credit and guarantees.
