General Profile

Rowena specialises in insolvency, commercial and property litigation. With extensive court experience, Rowena appears regularly in the High and County Courts and has recently been described as being “unflappable on her feet”.


Rowena joined Chambers in 2013 following the successful completion of her pupillage. Before joining the Bar Rowena studied Law at Cambridge University, being appointed in the prestigious role of “Mistress of Moots” in her final year and achieving the highest-ranking Law degree in her college (her results were the 5th highest out of all Law students at Cambridge that year).

Notable Cases


Re Electric Trucks Ltd (In Liquidation) (2018) (unrep) – Instructed by the liquidators of Electric Trucks Ltd, Rowena acted un-led to successfully obtain orders against former directors of the company for misfeasance in these High Court proceedings.


Zinc Hotels (Investment) Ltd & Anor v Beveridge & Ors [2018] EWHC 1936 (Ch) – Led by Stephen Davies QC, Rowena acted for shareholders of a company in administration. The case considered whether the court has power to appoint additional administrators pending trial of an application to remove existing administrators.


Taparis Ltd v Siddiqi (2017) (unrep) – Acting un-led, Rowena represented the successful claimant in its claim for specific performance of a share sale deed.


Skelwith (Leisure) Ltd v Depa (UK) Ltd (2017) (unrep) – Led by Christopher Parker QC, Rowena acted for the liquidators of Skelwith (Leisure) Ltd in its claim against a purported charge-holder.  


Skelwith (Leisure) Ltd v Armstrong & Others [2015] EWHC 3487 (Ch) – Led by Christopher Parker QC, Rowena acted as junior in a case brought by liquidators of Skelwith (Leisure) Ltd regarding a mortgagee’s attempt to sell a golf course in Harrogate.


Flax v Papaloizou [2015] EWHC 1055 (QB) – Rowena successfully defended an appeal regarding the interpretation of a Tomlin Order.


Areas of Emphasis


Insolvency - Rowena has extensive experience in insolvency litigation, taking on a variety of work in the High and County Courts. Ranked as “up and coming in Restructuring/Insolvency” in the 2019 Chambers and Partners, Rowena is regularly instructed on both personal and corporate insolvency matters.


Commercial chancery and company - Rowena’s practice embraces all aspects of commercial and commercial chancery litigation. Much of her work overlaps with (and is complemented by) her insolvency and property experience, as issues of trusts, fiduciary relationships, and breaches of duty arise in both.


Property - Rowena is regularly instructed across a wide range of property law. She frequently acts in possession hearings (including mortgagee, landlord and tenant, and trespasser claims) and advises on all aspects of property law. Her recent work includes acting and advising on a pending mortgagee possession appeal, drafting a Respondent’s notice and skeleton argument, advising on the rights of a tenant of agricultural land under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986, and acting in contested mortgagee sale proceedings.


Landlord and tenant - Rowena is experienced in all areas of landlord and tenant work, regarding residential and business tenancies, secure tenancies and assured tenancies.
