Louise is currently based in Dubai on secondment with leading law firm Horizons & Co. Having joined Horizons’ arbitration team, Louise acts in a variety of commercial disputes with an emphasis on complex construction disputes throughout the Middle East. Her cases involve a number of high profile infrastructure and property development projects in Dubai, the UAE and Qatar.
Since joining chambers in 2012 following a successful pupillage, Louise has developed a busy commercial chancery practice with a strong insolvency specialism. Prior to moving to Dubai, in addition to advisory work and drafting, Louise appeared regularly in the High Court, County Court and Tribunals, and has appeared as sole counsel in the Court of Appeal.
Recent highlights of Louise’s London-based practice include: a three-day trial acting for a bank seeking possession of property based on a guarantee, involving defences of misrepresentation and undue influence; acting as second junior in an ongoing multi-million pound dispute involving in excess, so far, of 20 parties; successfully appealing an indefinite suspension of a trust in bankruptcy’s possession and sale order; battling over the course of several hearings as to the identity of administrators to be appointed; acting for a liquidator throughout misfeasance proceedings brought against former directors culminating in a successful trial; and securing an order for the recovery of a trustee’s remuneration where a bankruptcy order had been appealed.
