The Leeds Business & Property Courts Litigant in Person Scheme launches in September 2023. This initiative aims to provide invaluable support to litigants in person who are representing themselves in court proceedings in Leeds. The Scheme will specifically cater for individuals appearing in the Winding Up List and the new BPC District Judges’ Applications List.

Chambers is pleased to announce that our very own Duncan Heath will be the barristerial lead for the Scheme. Duncan will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success and effectiveness of this initiative.

To introduce the Scheme, an event was held on 19th June 2023, hosted by Squire Patton Boggs and chaired by HHJ Malcolm Davis-White KC. This event provided an opportunity for barristers, solicitors, and representatives from pro bono charities to familiarize themselves with the details of the Scheme.

We encourage practitioners who have any questions or require further information about the Scheme to reach out to Duncan Heath directly.  Duncan is committed to addressing any inquiries and providing the necessary guidance to ensure a smooth and successful implementation of the Leeds Business & Property Courts Litigant in Person Scheme.

We are proud to be part of this much-needed initiative, which seeks to improve access to justice for litigants in person in Leeds. By providing free “on the day” representation, the Scheme aims to alleviate the challenges faced by individuals who navigate the complexities of court proceedings without legal representation.
