Recently refurbished conference and clerking facilities in London have the latest video conferencing equipment to recognise the changing working environment in which the Bar will now operate. Hot desks and facilities for remote hearings are planned at all centres.
The concept of a single set of Chambers operating across three locations is unusual, but it works extremely well. There is no sense of the out‑of‑London centres being mere annexes; they form an integral part of one unified organisation.
Practically, this means that members can use the facilities in any of our centres, a significant advantage when appearing in a court away from their usual base, whether that is the Rolls Building or the High Court in Leeds. Members are fully clerked and have all necessary resources available to them wherever they are.
We recognise that the pandemic, along with the widespread adoption of remote hearings, has changed the way we work and is likely to continue shaping our working practices. We are therefore open to discussing flexible and innovative ways of working to support members and clients alike.
